We’re all fellow travelers on an uncertain journey — figuring out some very fundamental things, together, that none of us can fully explain. That’s the whole premise of this place. A few things follow from it.
1 · Be kind. Be respectful. Be mindful. People here come from every background, every tradition, and none — and everyone’s carrying something you can’t see from a post.
2 · Don’t judge, and don’t assume things you can’t know about people. Someone’s prayer will sound different from yours. That’s not a problem to correct.
3 · Help others. Responding to someone else’s post — even with a few words — is the actual point of this place. Showing up for a stranger is not a small thing here.
4 · We’re all in this together, and this isn’t always easy. Grief, doubt, fear, and hope all show up on the same board. Give people room for all of it.
5 · Help make this a great place. If you see someone doing this well, say so. The tone here is set by everyone in it, not just by us.
6 · Talk to us if anything isn’t working. Report what concerns you — a category and a few words is enough — and a real person reads it. A report never hides a prayer; it puts it in front of a person sooner. You won’t be told whether it was your report or something else that triggered a look.
What this looks like in practice
- Across traditions: disagreement is fine, dismissal isn’t. You don’t have to agree with how someone else prays to respect that they’re praying.
- Helping without sharing someone’s faith, or having one: showing up counts on its own terms — a kind word, a moment of attention, “I’m thinking of you” — it doesn’t require belief to matter.
- Support, not advice. Someone posting a hard moment is usually asking to be heard, not asking to be fixed. If you’re not sure which one’s wanted, ask.
- If you’re struggling yourself: if a post looks like it might need it, information about people you can talk to is shown to you automatically and privately. You don’t have to ask, and nothing about your post changes because of it.
What we’d remove someone for
Rarely, and we’ll say why. But these end it:
7 · Describing a method, means, or plan for suicide or self-harm, or encouraging it in anyone.
8 · Threatening, harassing, or trying to frighten another member.
9 · Pretending to be someone you’re not.
10 · Using someone’s prayer request to sell them something or to get their personal details.
11 · Posting something with nothing to do with why this place exists — advertising, campaigning, or recruiting.
12 · Being here under 18.
13 · Sexual content directed at another member, or any sexual content involving a child.
14 · Attacking people for who they are — their faith or lack of one, their race, nationality, gender, sexuality, or disability.
15 · Trying to recruit or move someone into work or sex they haven’t freely chosen.
What looks bad, and we leave alone
- Despair. Wanting it to be over, feeling like a burden, not knowing how to go on. This is prayer. It stays.
- Anger at God, doubt, or losing your faith. Also prayer.
- A prayer that sounds wrong to you — a different tradition, a different tone, praying for something you wouldn’t. Not yours to correct.
- Someone who only reads and never posts. That’s a way of being here too.
- Talking about death, blood, sacrifice, or suffering in the language of your tradition. We know the difference, and when a machine doesn’t, a person does.
What happens if these aren’t followed
Most things start with a conversation, not a penalty. If a post breaks the ground rules it’s set aside — never deleted — until a person looks at it, and you’re told. Most of the time editing it is the fastest way back; sometimes there’s nothing to edit and a person just needs to read it. If a pattern continues, it can mean a warning, a temporary mute, or, for the list above, removal. Nothing escalates over one honest mistake. When group spaces exist, group owners will be able to add rules for their own group and enforce them there, never anywhere else. The full mechanics are in the Terms of Service; the spirit is this page.
