In the app

Built and working. Members are using these today.

• ✓ The board

  Post what’s on your heart, respond to anyone, react, and mark a prayer resolved. A view of posts nobody has answered yet, oldest first.

• ✓ Moderation and reporting

  Every post is screened, the guidelines are public, and a person always makes the final call. Reporting something never hides it.

• ✓ Profiles and account settings

  Choose how your name appears, write a short bio, decide whether your profile is visible to other members, change your email or password, download everything you’ve written, or delete all of it.

• ✓ Invitations

  Members can invite people. Five at a time, and you get one back each time an invitation is accepted.

What we’re working on

Being designed or built. No dates — these are what has our attention.

• Finer control over who sees what

  Today a post is visible to every signed-in member. We are working on narrower choices — a post only you can see, and posts shared with a group — and on making the choice obvious at the moment you write.

• Group spaces

  A place for a congregation, a circle, or a handful of friends to have their own board, with their own membership.

• More languages

  The app is built to be translated. Latin American Spanish is the first translation and is in progress. Which languages come after that depends on who turns up.

• Posting without your name shown

  Today every post carries the name you chose to display. Posting with no name attached at all is something we expect to build — it is not designed yet, and it has to work without making moderation impossible.

After that

We expect to build these. They are not designed yet, and anything here may move, change shape, or end up in the list below.

• Reading and sharing within your own tradition

  One board today, and everyone reads the same one. Choosing how close to your own tradition you want to stay — from only your own, to wide open — is firmly on the list. Tell us what you would actually need: hello@prayergroup.live.

• Choosing to make a post public

  Today nothing is readable without an account, and that stays the default. We expect to let you choose, post by post, to make one visible to people who aren’t members — in a stripped-down form: no full name, a count of responses rather than the responses themselves, and possibly only the opening of the post. Nothing becomes public unless you decide it should.

• Events and gatherings

  Praying together at an agreed time, for groups whose members cannot be in the same room.

• Tools for organizers

  For the people who hold a community together: managing a group, running a recurring gathering, staying close to members who cannot be there.

• Paid plans

  Premium features and services, mostly for groups and organizations. Being heard stays free, and always will be.

• Remembrance

  Marking an anniversary, holding a memorial with people who are scattered.

Under exploration

Real questions we have not answered. Not promises, and not rejections — mostly the answer is not yes or no but how, and in what context. They are here because what we decide will be better if you tell us what you think.

• Whether a prayer can be shared outward at all

  People do want to bring their own circle to something they have written. A button that broadcasts it to a social network is not that, and would expose the person who took the risk of posting. What sits between the two is an open question.

• Reactions that belong to a tradition

  “Amen” is the obvious one, and making it the main way to respond would quietly tell everybody else whose room this is. Whether a set of them can exist alongside each other, chosen rather than default, is worth working out.

• Whether anything should mark showing up regularly

  Streaks and badges work, and they work partly by making people feel bad about stopping — which is the opposite of what this is for. Whether there is a version that recognizes the people who quietly answer prayers every week, without that, we do not know yet.
